Subject: Senators and FDA look to Shaklee!
Subject: Senators and FDA look to Shaklee An Excerpt from Shaklee Leadership Convention Summary: Marjorie Fine, Senior V.P.
and General Counsel for Shaklee, began by telling us that Senator Harkin of Iowa, sponsor of the Dietary Supplement Health
& Education Act, will be a guest speaker at the upcoming New Directors Convention in Las Vegas. She also let us know that
the FDA has agreed to participate in quarterly meetings to discuss a range of issues important to the dietary supplement industry,
including such matters as dietary supplement good manufacturing practice regulations and Daily Values for vitamins and minerals.
(Marjorie told us that the FDA said no one other than Marjorie had ever addressed the problem of too low RDAs!!! They were
very impressed with her knowledge and interest--we are very proud to be associated with her and that she is with Shaklee Corp.)
In addition, she reported that the Direct Selling Association is working on a number of projects, including federal anti-pyramid
legislation that would curb the activities of pyramid schemes posing as multilevel marketing companies and protection of the
independent contractor classification during the tax revision process.
We are proud to be the Company that the
FDA has chosen to set the standards in the industry of nutritional supplementation. FDA knew we were top shelf, however they
were in awe as they toured Shaklee and came away impressed. Shaklee has a long legacy of conducting and publishing peer-reviewed
research, and it's a legacy that will continue. We have the science behind our products. When you hear about QUALITY,
Ask for PROOF. Consumers want to know whom they can trust and how they can separate fact from fiction. The truth is, consumers
must remain skeptical and demand proof. Their health and the wellness of their families depend upon it. Be proud to represent
this fine company with a conscience, helping others to better health the safe way. There is a tremendous interest in natural
products that can protect health, promote health wellness, and improve performance. However, in a marketplace dominated by
exaggeration, scams, and hype, people want products they can trust. The Shaklee quality story is not fiction. It is real and
backed by a tremendous investment in science and research. We put safety first, and our products deliver consistent proven
quality. Why? Because SHAKLEE is committed to making products you can trust.

Subject: Notes from The Dr. Miller Seminar, Phoenix, AZ 4/21/01
The Shaklee Difference:
We formulate with
science from the ground up. Douglas Labs makes vitamins for over 175 companies. The minimum order is only 12 bottles, so it
is easy for anyone to have their own brand of vitamins. Tufts University, the largest nutrition school in the country, has
approached Shaklee for a partnering relationship. What is being considered is having a computer screen where any doctor could
log onto Tufts, and look at the science and appropriate Shaklee product. Shaklee has more nutritional research equipment than
Tufts!
Shaklee BASICS
Repeatedly, Dr. Miller said that he recommends everyone to start with the Basics (including
Soy of course), and to try it for 90 days, regardless of presenting symptoms. This is because the average cell lifespan is
90 days, and if the body rebuilds healthy cells, many different symptoms will disappear. After that period, additional programs
may be recommended.
VITA-LEA
This is the most balanced multi anywhere, with 87 years in development.
VITA-E
According to the Harvard Study, Vitamin E lowered the risk of heart attack by 75%. Either 400 or 800 IU was
used. The latest studies show greater advantage at 1200, so he takes 3 a day.
VITA-C
Women who took vitamin
C for 10 years had 77% less cataracts. It reduces the risk of 7 types of cancers.
B-COMPLEX
B vitamins are
destroyed by high sugar diet, alcohol, birth control pills, aspirin, stress. FOLIC ACID lowers the risk of colon cancer by
75%. One researcher stated that he now considers colon cancer a folic acid deficiency disease. This vitamin reduces birth
defects from spina bifuda by 70%. However, folic acid should never be taken alone, because it loses 32% of its potency when
the other B vitamins are removed. Of 9 prenatals studied, only 3 met the requirement for folic acid dissolution. This means
that 2/3 of the prenatals tested cannot protect pregnant women from having babies with spina bifuda. Because folic acid is
difficult to break down, Shaklee has a patented process of putting it in the coating, to insure dissolvability. Before they
did this, they always put 600mcg. in the product, although the label claimed the required 400 mcg. We have an immediate release
B-Complex. This is very important, since B-12 must be released in the stomach or 92% is lost. Warn people never to buy time
release B's.
SOY PROTEIN
This is not an option, but an absolute necessity everyday. The number one symptom
of lack of protein is a depressed immune system. This product is safe for diabetics, and helps prevent infections, which plague
diabetics. Health conscious eaters and dieters often reduce fat, but do not replace their protein which is associated with
most fatty foods. Be more concerned to get enough protein than to reduce fat. You do not hear it said we are getting too much
protein, as much as in the past. New recommendations are now increasing the amount. In Japan, the recommendation is 10-20
grams higher than US recommends. Soy protein helps dissolve gallstones. We have 32 years of research in soy-no one else can
say that.
MOODLIFT
There are 52 side effects for Prozac, but only 1 for St. John's Wort: some people have
increased sun sensitivity.
OPTIFLORA
At birth, we have 90% of the most beneficial bacteria in our intestinal
tract, and 10% more neutral. Adults have about 15% left of the most beneficial bacteria in their system. The helps protect
against and treat candida, constipation, colon cancer. For children, this is a very important supplement to help with ear
infections and allergic asthma. It is helpful for anyone undergoing cancer treatment of chemo or radiation. Symptoms of low
levels of friendly bacteria include low energy, gas, bloating, and diarrhea alternating with constipation.

100% guaranteed.

The Shaklee Difference - Iron
From: Harriet Gushue, R.N.
If you're taking a multi-vitamin with iron,
have a quick look at the bottle to see the source of the iron. There is "good-for-you" iron and
"bad-for-you"
iron.
Old-fashioned iron supplements were made with inorganic iron; that is, iron from a mineral (rock) source.
This caused uncomfortable side
effects such as constipation. Even worse, these inorganic supplements bound with vitamin
E and removed it from the body. Inorganic iron such as ferrous sulfate and ferrous gluconate is held together only loosely
and the iron can easily break free to bind with and destroy Vitamin E.
Organic iron, such as ferrous fumarate,
does not tend to cause constipation. Because it comes from a plant source (rather than rock) the body knows how to use it.
Its molecules are bound together more firmly and the iron does not break loose to damage Vitamin E.
Shaklee Vita
Lea with Iron and Iron plus Vitamin C both use ferrous fumarate which is not constipating and has no ill effect on vitamin
E levels.
Beware of the price trap of generic, discount, or even some well-known product brands. Once you start
to compare the quality of Shaklee products with the vast array of ordinary choices out there, you'll discover there really
is a difference. Harriet Gushue, R.N. x
